First off, I want to say thanks to all of you for your kind words concerning my poor parking job (and for sticking up for me. I am not an environmental terrorist, and I might even post a picture of me hugging a tree just to prove it).
I especially like the insight of the commenter who noted that perhaps it was the car to my left that had parked poorly, thus forcing me to park further to the right. Yes! This does in fact make perfect sense. I have no idea if it's true, but I like it. I like it a lot.
I'm sorry to leave you hanging with the Diet Coke story but I promise within the next day or two I will post. I have had boys home sick these last few days and also trying to get ready for a birthday party while watching to make sure the birthday boy will be healthy enough to celebrate. I think he will.
Also, Happy Veteran's Day! Both of my grandfather's were veterans and on this day, I remember them with love. One grandfather died tragically when I was two weeks old, the other when I was four. The older I get, the more I miss all of my grandparents. Today, I'm especially grateful for their service to our country.

I have three older brothers. Two of them live nearby. Occassionally we will be at our local Target, Home Depot, etc.. at the same time. When my oldest brother spots my car in a lot, he takes special delight in parking so close to me that I have to crawl over the passenger seat or even into the hatch of my SUV to get in, so I chuckled at your parking story. Some people park that way inadvertently and some do it purposefully because boys will be boys well into their forties. Hang in their with the sick kids in the house and birthday plans.
One of my grandfathers died when I was 8 weeks old. My other grandfather died when my DAD was six years old.
I've always missed not having, for all intents and purposes, grandfather. My sister, who is younger, didn't meet either of her grandfathers. I do treasure the one good photo I have of me with my grandfather. It was taken on a day no one wanted to take photos. My father INSISTED. My grandfather hadn't been diagnosed with his cancer at the time.
I think Christine sums up the beauty of brothers. So, Rachel, if you have a girl just think of all the 'fun stories' she will have from all.her.older.brothers! Brothers are, indeed, a real gift!
